According to the latest statistics from the European Aerosol Union (FEA), the total global aerosol production in 2022 is about 15.4 billion cans, and the production in the European region ranks first in the world, with a slight increase in total production compared to last year, with a total production of about 5.319 billion cans, of which more than 55% of the production comes from the UK, Germany and France (the UK's 1.436 billion cans, the European Aerosol Federation). The United States ranks second in the world in aerosol production, which is basically the same as 2021 production. Ranked third in global aerosol production is China, with annual production of about 2.505 billion cans of aerosol in 2022, according to the latest statistics from the aerosol Professional Committee of the China Packaging Federation.

Proportion of aerosol products in Europe

About three quarters of aerosol products in Europe are personal care and home care products. Among them, personal care products accounted for 55.1%, and home care products accounted for 21.1%. Aerosol packaging is mainly based on iron aerosol tanks and aluminum aerosol tanks, and glass and plastic containers are still in the small trial stage.

As shown in the figure below, deodorant/antiperspirant accounted for the highest proportion of the 55.1% of personal care products produced, with more than 1.66 billion cans produced. This is followed by hair gel shaving mousse/Gel Hair mousse and other products.

As shown in the figure below, air fresheners accounted for the highest proportion of 21.1% of home care products, producing more than 530 million cans. This is followed by insecticidal/plant protection products for care (fabrics, furniture, leather, footwear, textiles, etc.) for cleaning products for other products.

As shown in the chart below, among the 23.8% of other aerosol products, paints & varnishes account for the highest proportion, with an annual output of about 300 million cans, followed by industrial and technical supplies with an annual output of about 260 million cans. It is worth noting that the production of food aerosols has a significant rise in 2022, with an annual output of about 250 million cans. The annual output of automotive supplies is about 220 million cans. This is followed by medical & Animal products and other products.
